A lot of decisions in companies or in our private lives are rushed. This short piece is not about why it is so; it’s rather about the consequences of rushing through decisions and projects.
When something is done in a rush it means that there is very little preparation involved. Preparation is the key in many outcomes. Being prepared means to be informed about all possible scenarios which will be implemented after the decision is made. That means there is enough time to question each possible outcome.
No time for a proper evaluation means negative compromises. This means something will need to be scarified. Money, time or quality. One or more out of those three will be lost when you rush. Very often I see projects being dragged for so long so at the final stages all the decisions need to be taken in a hurry. Too early is better than too late. Have the consistency to plan project with enough time to deliver them at the highest possible level. Have time to properly evaluate each of the outcomes.
Find time. Plan accordingly. Try to prepare well for any decision that is being made. Even if you have to rush find ways to know as much as you can to take the right decision.
