Empathy is not necessarily only about thinking positively about someone. It’s also not about trying to imagine how they feel in a given situation.
Empathy is about putting yourself in the shoes of the other person.
How did they get into that situation?
What circumstances shaped them in the past?
How they are wired?
What is their worldview?
These are just few questions you need to answer before talking about having empathy for someone. It’s a difficult process and it requires open mindess. After that it gets much easier to understand why people act in certain way.
